CONSTRUCTION - Marine ply saturated glassed and finished with Ivory Epoxy. The fibreglass was specially imported from NASA , because of strength and light weight.
opted for this system because it is 270 x stronger than normal fibre glass.
the photos were taken before she was sprayed in 2004.
The boat was built precisely to spec and as it stands, she weighs only 4 tons. It is a light fast boat. Roger Simpson calls it his Landrover of the sea.
mast compression posts are Baloo wood. very strong
cherry wood trimmings that needs to be fitted still are stored inside the boat.
the bridgedeck clearance is nice and high which will eliminate slamming
the reinforced ribs along the centre are of strong timber
and laminated and spliced to the exact shape of the curve.
the beam of timber that runs the length of the joint between the bridgedeck and hull, is double the size and plan.
the sexy peakcap was designed and built by me. it shades the saloon from the sun.
most edges of the boat were rounded off to give a moulded effect....lots of work!! all corners have been moulded with smooth fillets.
the saloon roof was raised and widened to allow larger area inside the saloon and galley whilst still allowing plenty deck space
the cockpit is self draining and large enough to seat more than six during those get-togethers at night!
the wooden sliding door is a temporary measure for security reasons. The aluminium glass doors must still be fitted.
note the curved ridge along the roof above the doors - i put that there to stop water dripping into the cockpit.
the hydraulic helm fitting can be seen in the photo. the large stainless steel helm/wheel is inside the boat.
the cockpit is very accessable from the two aft steps or from the large divedeck behind the transom.
the dive deck is wide
Since these photos were taken, a lot more work has been done on the boat. It is completely sprayed .
