30 ft SAMPSON ferro professionally built by Durban Ferro.
Was taken out of the water and refitted. Refit still in process but almost complete.
Some INFO -
The boat is in Durban, at the Bluff Yacht Club - hard parking - on the land.
I have the boats papers with me, I live in Fiji. The boat is registered in Durban.SA. the port.
Unfortunately I do not have photos of the deck , I have not been in SA for 5 years.
It should only take a few months to get the boat ready for sail. painting, some electrics wiring/distribution board and service the engine and she should be able to go again. She is a wide boat , plenty of living space similar to a 36 -38 foot, and will be a comfortable boat to live on in the islands. Will also be a good boat for Europe because she has a stepmast - the mast can be lowered to go through the canals in Europe.
i am not sure how much of the fairing still needs to be done. but that is a personal choice. it could be painted and put into the water or you can continue faffing forever on a boat.
i will take offers around 40 000. i have spent more than that on her myself.
if you have any other questions. feel free to ask.
I also have a catamaran, also unfinished, on the hard at Bluff Yacht Club. This boat you can also see in another post at

Questions from another potential buyer....
she is 30 ft long and very wide at the birth which makes her very spacious and roomy, more roomy than most 36 ft have
How much money do you think must be spend in the fairing?
its difficult to see from the photos as the man did some work on it that i did not see, but to me it looks almost ready for painting. so i do not know the prices in SA at the moment, i was there 5 years ago.
How much engine? How old are they?
the engine was completely rebuilt by the previous owner , a marine engineer, so the boat has done no mileage since been rebuild so it is brand new. the periods of time that i spent on the boat , i put in diesl /oil mixture in the glow plugs and turned the engine by hand to keep it lubricated. it always seemed fine. so i trust that it is still good.
it is a 20 HP diesel inboard.
Is there any GPS, ETC ON THE BOAT?
no gps, i left all the wind instruments/depth sounder/compass onboard the boat. the sensors are all mounted, only the gauges to be mounted. it is a complete set - raytheon.
the sails - a full set of sails brand new,
stainless watertank and diesel tanks - all fitted
i made a raincatcher in the cockpit roof down into the heads and tank with switchover valves all complete.
it has a stepmast - it is important if you ever want to do the canals in europe. also has steps leading up the mast.
i know the price of the sails alone are more thatn the asking price of the boat! she needs work but not that much and will be very comfortable in the water , to sail and to live in - a good cruising boat.
the previous owner of the boat, Brian, purchased the yacht from his sister, whose husband passed away, being a marine engineer with his own engineering works, he stripped the boat down completely and rebuild everything from scratch. bulkheads, table , beds all. all. all new. the distrubution board - electrical- is something that i know little about, but the wiring that is there and the mastlight and anchore and nav lights all worked. but i did not connect all the wiring on a board - that must still be added on the boat.. i think that the connecting up of the distribution board is the biggest job to be done on the boat, other than painting.
that is everything that i can think of now. feel free to ask if there is anything else.
